August 17th - Annual Turnout

 Our annual August Turnout will be on Saturday, August 17th.

               The gathering will be hosted by our club VP, Lou Rudinski, at his home in Millersville.  Lou’s home is on the Kinder Farm Park property.  The address is 146 Gali Sanchez Way, Millersville, 21108.  Bear left toward the athletic fields as you enter the park and follow the road past the fields to a parking lot.  Then you can turn right up onto the grass and park next to the shaded lawn where we will be meeting.  The Turnout will start at 11:30.  But folks are encouraged to come anytime from 10:30 onward to help with the set up of tables and chairs, to help shuck corn, or just hang out.

               The club will provide grilled burgers, chicken, hot dogs and sausages along with buns, condiments, tableware, and ice.  Lou will provide fresh corn.  Everyone else is asked to provide either a side dish, a dessert, or non-alcoholic beverages to share.  This year, those members with last names from A-E are asked to bring beverages, those with last names from F-N are asked to bring a side dish, and those with last names O-Z a dessert.  Bring enough to share with 6 to 8 other people.  Garden fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onions and other burger toppings are always a nice contribution.  Bill Kost will again be our master griller.

               After our lunch, we will have a full but relaxed agenda.  It will include a short business meeting and the presentation of a special award.  We’ll have our second President’s Challenge which is to turn something “inside-out”.  There will be a $50 cash award for the best inside-out turning as determined by the assembled group.  We will also have our regular Show and Tell – so bring what you’ve been working on over the past few months to share with the group.  And we will end with our annual club raffle(s) – conducted by the guy most capable of talking you into buying tickets, Tim Moore.  There will, in fact, be two raffles – one a special raffle of signed turnings by Mark Sfirri, some beautiful maple burls harvested and cut by Lou Rudinski, and a bucket of wood-drying granules donated by Tom Stegall.  And we’ll have our regular raffle of all the wonderful stuff that all of you bring from your shops that you absolutely must share with your fellow club members.  Tickets for the special raffle will be $1.00 each.  Tickets for the regular raffle will be $0.50 each.  Proceeds from the raffles will go to cover the costs of food provided by the club and, beyond that, to support general club expenses.
