Lancaster Area Woodturners is pleased to announce we are hosting world famous woodturner and woodturning teacher Ernie Conover as our fall demonstrator.
This will be a two day event. Each day is different. You can attend either or both sessions.
On Saturday November 14, 2015, Ernie will be demonstrating from 9:00 am to approximately 4:00 pm on the school’s robust lathe. The video screen will be set up. Lunch is included. Total cost for the day is $40.
On Sunday November 15, 2015, Ernie will host a hands on teaching day. Attendance for this day will be limited to a handful of students. Experience level beginner to advanced. Ernie will show you his tricks of the trade, and help you practice them. 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Total cost for the hands on teaching day is $50. Lunch is not included for the teaching day due to the limited number of participants. Bring a bag lunch with you. There is a snack bar on the first floor, which may or may not be open on Sunday.
The location is at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, branch campus. The address is 1100 East Orange St, Lancaster PA 17602. The building is located near, but not on the main campus. Directions: The easiest way is by way of route 30 east of Lancaster. Take the Walnut Street (Rt 23) exit. It is also marked as the exit for Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. Follow Walnut Street to Ranck Ave. Turn left on Ranck Ave to Orange St. Turn left on East Orange St. Go two blocks and you will be there. The building is bordered by Orange St on the north, Parkside Ave on the East, Clark St on the South, and Cottage Ave on the West. You may park in the lot on College Ave. There is also on-street parking on the streets bordering the building. Enter at the main entrance, which is on Parkside Ave. Our shop is on the fourth floor.
Seating is limited, so to ensure your place at the event, register as soon as possible. Registrations must be paid in advance.

Ernie Conover is a long-time contributor to Fine Woodworking, a furniture maker, and a tool aficionado. While he is often called upon as a machine designer, having designed and marketed the Conover lathe before selling that business, Conover is best known for teaching and writing about woodturning.
Conover has written several woodturning books, including, Turning for Furniture (1996), Turn a Bowl with Ernie Conover (2000),The Lathe Book II Edition (2001). Most recently, he has written the book The Frugal Woodturner (2010). In addition he has produced several woodturning videos; Turning for Furniture (a companion to the book), and Turning Furniture Spindles.
Ernie and his wife, Susan, run Conover Workshops, a craft school in Parkman, Ohio, where he teaches woodworking and wood-turning courses, and she teaches fiber arts classes. They opened the school in 1980 and still operate out of a large workshop near their home.
