Post date: Mar 25, 2019 11:35:41 PM
The Chesapeake Woodturners and the Woodturning Co-Op at Maryland Hall will meet Saturday, April 20 in the Woodturning Room at Maryland Hall starting at 9 am.
There will be a $5 charge for members and guests.
Our speaker and demonstrator this month is Mark Sfirri.
Mark Sfirri’s specialty is multi-axis turning. He works without any special chucks, just
between centers. He has made candlesticks, bowling pins, baseball bats, human figural
forms, furniture parts and many other objects using these methods for over twenty years.
He will demonstrate some of these techniques and the ideas behind them. Mark was
awarded a Distinguished Educator Award 2010 from the Renwick and received the
Lifetime Achievement Award for 2012 by the Collectors of Wood Art. He ran the Fine
Woodworking Program at Bucks County Community College in Newtown,
Pennsylvania from 1981 to 2017.
